Blog post 2: Scope and Limitations
The second week of this semester has been less stressful than the first week as I have started writing my project's scope and limitations. Using the same design process and framework from semester 1, I have outlined which framework and design process I will be using each week. This week, I am focusing on the empathy phase to get to know the problem further and obtain a deeper understanding. The design method I am using is the design thinking process, and the framework I am using is the He Ara Waiora framework made by Treasury NZ. For the empathy phase, I have allocated the framework of Manaakitanga. Manaakitanga is the value of respect and caring, which is important for the empathy phase, as I have to treat everyone with respect when surveying or gathering information from people or other sources. I will be using the what? So what? Now what? reflection tool for this week's experience.
What
However, having to get started on the project itself has been quite stressful, balancing my other classes together with this 45-point class. When there are many tasks to complete, it gets hard to sort out what to do first, as all of them are top priorities. As it is my last semester of University, I would like to achieve higher to finish off my studies on a good note. However, the motivation is not catching up with my feelings.
So what?
With my motivation, I feel as if my subconscious mind is telling me that it is okay to relax a little, as it is my last year. However, I am aware that I would need to do a lot of work to achieve high marks. It is important to have some time to relax, however, as it is the start of the semester so by working hard currently it will allow me to not be that stressed and anxious in the future. Therefore, I will not leave anything till last minute and do as much work as I possibly can to allow myself to not be disappointed in the future.
Now what?
In terms of not knowing which task I need to do first, on top of the time line and check list I have on my miro board, I will make my own to-do list. This to-do list will incorporate when I should be taking breaks and doing my personal activities, such as my chores into this to-do list so I can keep up with my tasks. I will also be using the Pomodoro technique where I focus on my work for 25 minutes then take a 5-minute break and repeat to keep myself motivated.
This week is the second week of semester 2 and I am starting outline the scope and limitations of my new project.

This personal to-do list has made me feel less stressed as I know which task to compete and I also get a sense of accomplishment when I get things done as I can manually tick it off.
